Macfarlanes is a family business which was established in 1921 as a nursery growing trees and shrubs and plants. During the Second World War, we took part in ‘Dig for Victory’ growing vegetables and fruit.
After the War, we returned to growing and selling trees, shrubs and plants as well as establishing a landscape department.
In the 1960s, we were one of the earliest nurseries to establish a garden centre. And in 1985, we opened the World of Butterflies, which were free flying butterflies of many species, in a tropical greenhouse garden.
Towards the end of 2014, it was decided that Macfarlanes should move with the times and trade online with our garden products.
Macfarlanes has always been happy to give advice on gardening problems, and this has not changed, we are still available to answer any questions by telephone, email or our ‘Contact Us’ form.
